  • Signed,oils on panel. Bateman lived in London and became well know for his sporting paintings depicting fishing, hunting and shooting scenes. He also like to paint dogs. This painting of 'The Rabbit Catchers' is typical of his work and one notes the vividness of his colours. Bateman exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1840 to 1848, The British Institution, and The Society of British Artists. His work can be found in many Museums and Galleries.
