  • William Anderson 1757-1837 Painter of mariners, shore scenes and harbours, in oils and watercolours. Born in Sutherland, died in London 27th May 1837. Started as a shipwright, but took to painting subjects connected with ships and the sea. Exhibited at the Royal Academy 1787 to 1834 and the British institute from 1810 - 1826. His paintings are found in Museums,Public Galleries and numerous private collections.
