  • Ibbetson was born in 1759 and died in 1817. He was more or less self-trained partly by copying old Master painting for dealers. His landscapes are mostly small and include figures and or cattle and are much sort after. He moved from London to the lake district in 1799, so this painting was painted round about that time. He Exhibited in the Royal Academy from 1785 to 1815 and the British Institute from 1811 to 1817. His paintings will be found in most Major Galleries around the world. Also in many private collections.
