  • George Morley was born in 1831 and died in 1889.He specialised in painting portraits of Horses and dogs, together with hunting and shooting scenes. He came to the notice of Queen Victoria who commissioned the first painting he exhibited at the Royal academy. He was greatly in demand and painted for other members of the royal Family,and among others the Duke of Norfolk and the Earls of Rosebery and Surrey. He exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1832 to 1863. His paintings rarely come on the market as they were painted for the Aristocracy of the time so are still in private hands. George Darlinson won the Waterloo cup with'Homfray' in 1904
