  • Rathbone was a prolific painter of landscapes both in oils and watercolours. He was born in Cheshire and moved to London in later life. He painted in a similar way to Morland and Ibbotson. He exhibited 48 paintings at the Royal Academy from 1785 to 1806, and also exhibited 2 paintings at the Society of Artists in Great Britain. His paintings can be found in the Walker Gallery in Liverpool and the British Museum
